The tool covers 34+ cost categories named in 2 CFR 200, parts 200.403 through 200.475 — including salary, fringe benefits, equipment, supplies, travel, consultants, participant support, indirect costs (F&A), and every unallowable category the regulation explicitly names (lobbying, entertainment, fines, fundraising, etc.).

The full list is visible in the app's category dropdown. If a category you search for is not in the regulation, the tool returns "No matching rule found" — it never fabricates a ruling.

Enter the period end date (the last day of your reporting period) and select the report type:

• FFR / SF-425 — due 90 calendar days after period end (2 CFR 200.512(a)(1))
• Performance report — due 90 calendar days after period end (2 CFR 200.512(a)(2))
• SF-270 (Advance/Reimbursement) — no uniform deadline; frequency is set by the grant terms and cash management plan (2 CFR 200.305)

The tool calculates the literal deadline date and shows the regulation clause that sets the rule. Deadlines are calendar days, not business days.

Not every cost category has an explicit ruling in 2 CFR 200. When a category is not addressed by the regulation text, the tool returns "No matching rule found" with a plain-language explanation.

This is a deliberate integrity check, not a bug. A tool that always produces a tidy answer is the failure mode, not the feature. If the regulation does not settle a question, the answer must say so.

If a clause is genuinely ambiguous — for example, it imposes a condition but does not clearly specify how that condition is met — the tool states that the terms do not settle the question. It never resolves an ambiguity silently or invents an interpretation.

When you see this, consult the full regulation text and, where appropriate, your awarding agency or a qualified grants professional.

The "subscribe" form on the pricing page is a client-side demonstration. It does not create a subscription, does not send or store any data, and does not process real payments. It exists to show the planned checkout flow. Paid tiers will be announced when they are ready to ship.

No. The current tool is based on 2 CFR 200, which applies to federal grants and awards. State, local, foundation, and other non-federal grants are governed by different sets of rules and are not covered. Custom terms analysis for individual award documents (including non-federal instruments) is planned for the Professional tier.
